98+ BLAZER 2 PISTON CALIPER BRAKES SWAP GUIDE

Updated: Nov 28, 2023

----These are a DIRECT BOLT ON and by far the best brake upgrade for the s10 trucks or older blazers for the money, beating out the C5 caliper swap by a mile IMO cost and simplicity wise. This mod will work on ALL years of s10 and Blazer based vehicles of the same drive type as yours(2wd or 4wd) ----The 98+ Blazer brakes not only give you 2x as many pistons with 30% more clamping area and also have more fluid behind them and providing more clamping EACH, but also the rotors are 1.2" bigger & thicker. These also have sealed bearings that bolt on and are a much better design (and unlike the C5 setup, it also doesn’t require chopping your stock truck spindles, buying $125 brackets, $250 modified bearing/rotor hats, and MUCH more expensive and harder to find calipers/rotors) ----The easiest thing to do is unbolt the ENTIRE knuckle and everything attached to it, if the rotors/pads aren't nice id ditch them and get new ones. (some guys have also needed the brake line and brake line bracket thats in the wheel well as well, so id grab them too). If you do this and add some fresh ceramic pads and rotors (Detroit Axle has them for under $95 new with 10yr warranty) it will blow your mind how much better it is!!! (Pics included of knuckles, s10 have a C shape, blazers have a 3 ended triangle shape and are flat-ish) on bottom -2wd Blazer Brake Parts list, again just grab everything attached to the knuckle for simplicity -1998+ Blazer front steering knuckles -1998+ Blazer brake calipers -1998+ Blazer caliper brackets -1998+ Blazer brake rotors/pads -1998+ Blazer dust shield -1998+ Blazer brake line (MAYBE) -1998+ Blazer brake line fenderwell bracket (MAYBE) -Rotor Diameters/Brake piston diameters

-82-04 s10/ 82-97 Blazer 10.47” / 1 piston at 2.25" -98-04 Blazer brakes 11.7” / 2 pistons at 1.625" each

-97-04 C5 Corvette 12.8” / 2 pistons at 1.75" -4wd parts list, the 4wd trucks also can get this upgrade, only 2 parts are different here, the rest of the parts are identical to 2wd 98+ Blazers -98+ 4wd spindles (they have a hole for the front axle, are a different shape with an upside down balljoint) -98+ 4wd hubs (theyre different as well for the CV joint/splines)
